David Carr was an American writer, columnist and author. He wrote the Media Equation column for The New York Times. The Night of the Gun, his memoir published in 2008 detailed his experiences as a cocaine addict. Carr was the Dalton Camp Lecture of 2o13. Two years later, he died suddenly after collapsing in the New York Times newsroom. He was 58.
The New York Times announced in September 2015 a fellowship in Carr’s name that is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of journalists.
